LOGIC Commercial Real Estate announced this month the opening of a new business services division – LOGIC Property Tax Appeal.

According to a November 10 press release, LOGIC Property Tax Appeal helps business owners and real estate investors reduce property tax expenses by working on behalf of owners to appeal their property tax value.

The new division is led by Shawn Heine, partner at LOGIC Commercial Real Estate, which has offices in Reno and Las Vegas. He previously worked for a Fortune 200 company disputing taxes on their assets.

“With nearly a decade of experience in property tax appeals and training in real estate law, I have the knowledge to make the property tax appeal process transparent to any client.” Heine said in a statement. “As a father and husband, I know how precious time is. My mission is to provide a service that saves business owners and real estate investors money, while allowing them to devote their time to what matters most to them.

According to the release, the typical tax appeal process can be cumbersome for property owners. First, owners must obtain current appraisals to determine if the assessed value of the property is excessive compared to comparable properties. Then, they must file an official protest with the local county assessment office. They would then enter into negotiations with the appraiser to obtain a lower assessed value. If unsuccessful, they must present evidence in a formal hearing before the county appeal board.

LPTA manages the entire process for its clients.

“At LOGIC, we believe in providing a complete solution to our commercial real estate clients, and adding the property tax appeal service is another way we are working to optimize their investments,” said the CEO of LOGIC, Brendan Keating, in a statement. “We are thrilled to welcome Shawn and his team to the LOGIC family and know that his unique skills and expertise will help improve results for property owners across the country. “
